The
Manele Bay Hotel
This resort overlooks Hulopo'e Bay on the privately owned,
141-square-mile island of Lanaiāan isolated Hawaiian paradise home to fewer
than 2,800 residents and less than 30 miles of paved roads.
Scuba sailing, winter whale-watching, and deep-sea
fishing are popular activities, here. Amenities include eucalyptus steam
rooms and red-cedar saunas. There are several themed gardens on site:
Hawaiian, Chinese, Japanese, bromeliad, and Kama'aina.

Upon arrival at the island, guests are greeted by hotel staff for
transport to the hotel. Upon check-in, they receive a cool towel and a
fragrant fresh-flower lei. Complimentary beach towels, snorkel gear, boogie
boards, water, lemonade, lounge chairs, and umbrellas are available at the
beach kiosk. The swimming pool has two spa tubs. The concierge can arrange
for recreational trips and tours.
Perched
on the slopes above the white sand beach of Hulopo'e on the secluded island
of Lanai is The Manele Bay Hotel a magnificent expression of Hawaiian
kamaaina architecture combined with Mediterranean flair. The lavishly
appointed 250 guest rooms and suites-13 of which have a full butler service
emphasize the hotel's dramatic location with views of either lush gardens or
the untamed Lanai coast. Furnishings that reflect the cosmopolitan heritage
of Hawaii and include original works of Lanai artists, make the decor of
each room unique and exceptional.

Five multilevel courtyard gardens expressing Japanese, Chinese,
Polynesian, European and Hawaiian themes give guests a feeling of serenity
and harmony as they stroll by streams, ponds and waterfalls highlighted by
exotic plants and flowers.
Unparalleled
views accentuate the outstanding dining venues at The Manele Bay Hotel.
There is a virtual kaleidoscope - from the Mediterranean style Hulopo'e
Court for breakfast, lunch and dinner; the romantic ocean view setting of
the Kailani Terrace for afternoon tea and cocktails; to the intimate Ihilani
restaurant renowned for its exquisite Pacific Rim menu and heavenly Hawaiian
Vintage Chocolate dessert.

For relaxing, there's a freshwater pool with two Jacuzzis, an
exclusive spa where guests can enjoy a workout or massage, and even a
comfortable library for reading and contemplating. Resort activities which
include sailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, game fishing, hiking, golf and
tennis enable guests to discover why Lanai is regarded as an explorer's
paradise and a holiday-maker's delight.
This
hotel has 250 guestrooms, all of which have beds with quilted comforters and
down pillows, facing an armoire with cable TV. Bathrooms have marble floors,
double sinks, second telephone, makeup mirrors, bathrobes, slippers,
thermostat-controlled showers, and separate marble soaking tubs.
Full-length, mirror-covered sliding doors offer bathroom access to the
closet, which is also accessible from the bedroom. A writing desk and chair
with ottoman separate the bed from a private lanai furnished with lounge
chairs. Air-conditioning automatically turns off when sliding glass doors
open.

The Spa at Manele Bay, open daily from morning until evening, includes
eucalyptus steam rooms and red-cedar saunas, manicure and pedicure stations,
and a hair salon. Skin and body therapy offerings include seaweed body mask,
pineapple citrus body polish, and alii banana coconut scrub.
The Hale Aheahe game room and cocktail lounge has two pool tables, a
32-inch cable TV, and complimentary pupus and music nightly.
Children's programs are available daily; Tuesday and Friday night activities
can be arranged, with 24 hours' advance notice.

The
hotel's golf course, Challenge at Manele, was designed by Jack Nicklaus. Its
12th hole is positioned on a cliff 150 feet above the waves, with a 200-yard
tee shot across the ocean. The beachfront hotel filled with Asian artifacts
also features ocean or pool swimming, and snorkeling in Hulopo'e Bay; six
tennis courts; complimentary fitness equipment; spa facilities for facial,
hair, nail, and body treatments; and massage in ocean-view cabanas, garden
