A quarter-mile south of the Royal Coconut Coast and 2 miles from Kauai's Coconut Marketplace, this resort is splendidly isolated from other developments—a tranquil base for island exploration. Manicured lawns surround a pool, sundeck, putting green, tennis courts, and barbecue grills, and the swimming is excellent at Lydgate Park, located at the north side of the resort. Condo units all face the ocean, and lanais offer prime seating for sunrise views. Cooled by ceiling fans, accommodations have full kitchens, VCRs, cable TV, and in-room safes.

Although Kauai's most populous area with plentiful shopping and dining opportunities lies just two miles up the coast, the isolation here creates a tranquil atmosphere, with the ocean's soothing majesty spread out for contemplation. Kaha Lani means "Heavenly Place," and the name suits this resort. The pool and surrounding sundeck draw guests from the oceanside. Barbecue grills near the pool and in the back of the resort offer fresh-air dining options. A putting/chipping green with sand traps and a lighted tennis court provide recreation options. A broad, paved walking/jogging/biking path runs alongside the ocean from the golf course through the resort to the county park and, eventually, beyond. If the ocean's rough, this path, bordered by natural beach greenery, is a lovely alternative to beachwalking.

The 74-unit resort is comprised of nine two- and three-story buildings constructed of wood in the plantation style popular on Kauai. Manicured green lawns open to ocean breezes lie between the buildings and the beach. Though the ocean here is unsafe for anyone but the strongest swimmers and surfers, Lydgate County park on the resort's north side has excellent swimming, a broad beach, and a lifeguard. The vast park includes a large children's playground, showers, and picnic tables. Stairways, not elevators, provide access to upper floors.

This oceanfront condominium resort offers 74 units, facing the ocean. Spacious, furnished lanais provide sweeping sunrise and sea views. Units include full kitchens. Furnishings vary, but all are island-inspired. Units are cooled by ceiling fans and cross-ventilation rather than air conditioning.

Two miles north of the resort is a one-story, open-air shopping-and-dining village called Coconut Marketplace, which contains a dozen or more restaurants and food stands. Other dining choices abound up and down the 8-mile Royal Coconut Coast, which begins a quarter-mile north where the Wailua River flows into the ocean.

In addition to the resort's tennis court and Wailua Golf Course next door, a quarter-mile north is the Wailua River, the longest navigable river in Hawaii, which is popular for boat and kayak trips. Other recreational opportunities abound on Kauai.
